Jet Set For Induction Into ARIA Hall Of Fame

Jet Set For Induction Into ARIA Hall Of Fame Nic Caster expressed his delight and gratitude, stating, we feel privileged and honored to be among such esteemed peers. Receiving this recognition truly humbles us.

Later this year, Jet is set to achieve a remarkable milestone as they are set to be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. This honor marks a significant moment in the band’s history, coinciding with their reunion and the 20th anniversary of their debut album. The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place on November 15th during the 2023 ARIA Awards in Sydney.

Frontman Nic Caster expressed his gratitude and excitement, stating, We’re all incredibly thrilled and deeply honored to join the ranks of such esteemed artists. This recognition is truly humbling for us.

Originating in Melbourne and fronted by Nic Caster (vocals/guitar) and his sibling Chris Caster (vocals/drums), along with Cameron Muncey (vocals/guitar) and Mark Wilson (bass), Jet burst onto the music scene with their inaugural album, “Get Born,” which was released in 2003—two decades ago.

With a sound that blended the steady, rhythmic energy of Iggy and the Stooges with the grandeur of Oasis, Jet achieved recognition with their single “Are You Gona Be My Girl, prominently featured in an early Apple iPod campaign, and reached the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 charts, peaking at No. 29.

Get Born also included notable tracks such as “Look What You’ve Done,” “Rollover DJ,” and “Get Me Outta Here.” At the 2004 ARIA Awards, the album clinched victory in six categories and attained a nine-times platinum certification in Australia, establishing it as one of the five highest-selling Australian rock albums of all time, according to industry reports.

Jet released several follow-up albums, including Shine On in 2006 and Shaka Rock in 2009, all of which achieved success by entering the top 40 on the Billboard 200 chart.

In 2012, Jet decided to take a break from their music career, but they briefly reunited in 2017 for a special performance with Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band during their sold-out Australian tour. This reunion led to a few additional shows, including an appearance at the Fuji Rock festival in Japan. Now, in the current year, the band has officially announced a reunion tour.

The upcoming tour is scheduled to begin this Friday, September 22, at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre. However, it’s worth noting that Chris Caster will not be joining the tour due to “family reasons,” as stated by the band.

Annabelle Herd, CEO of ARIA, remarks, “Throughout their illustrious career, Jet has notched up an impressive array of accolades and milestones. These include an impressive seven ARIA Awards, chart-topping albums, and sold-out global tours. Their groundbreaking album reshaped the landscape of Australian rock music and exerted a profound influence on fellow musicians throughout their journey. It is only fitting that they are bestowed with our highest honor.”

Jet’s induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame marks the end of a multi-year hiatus for this prestigious accolade. This hiatus was initiated due to the disruptions caused by the pandemic, which significantly impacted the live music experience. However, with those obstacles now behind us, the ARIA Hall of Fame is back in action. The previous inductee was the late Indigenous artist Archie Roach, in the year 2020.

Herd expressed his delight, stating, “We are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to them as the inaugural inductees into the ARIA Hall of Fame since 2020.”

As previously announced, the 2023 ARIA Awards are scheduled to occur at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion.
